This week 17 of our older boys and male staff headed off into the mountains on motorbikes as part of the Strong Riders Bike Tour. It was the first time we have ever done anything like this but reports from the boys up in the mountains makes it sound like this could easily become an annual event.
Summer Games also stormed ahead this week, Kickball and Dodgeball were among the simpler programs for the week.
With the support of a local rafting company, “Life Is Adventure,” we were able to take our kids White Water Rafting on the Kali River just North of Tanakpur. Heavy rains the night before brought the water levels up but the rafting company assured us that everything would be safe.
The kids had the most incredible time! For some it was a little scary (first time in a boat or rapids), but once they got over their initial fears everyone had a blast! There were a few crazy moments that made for brilliant memories but overall the river was a perfect fit for our first time boaters…
Our Nursery children had a special Treasure Hunt event which involved solving cryptic clues and scrambling across the mission to find keys to unlock chests filled with treasure. They did amazingly well at solving the riddles and impressed us all with their teamwork.
Another big event this week was Survivor Day. Based on the TV series this day includes various challenges, obstacle courses, puzzles and endurance tests. The big event was OUT (Over, Under, Through) in which teams had to race over an obstacle, under a large tarpaulin and through another obstacle to obtain a puzzle piece before having to run the course in reverse. In total, 22 puzzle pieces had to be collected by each team. After all the pieces were collected some of the youngest members of the teams had to race to complete their puzzles.
The final event for the week was Superhero Smackdown! Our kids dressed up as their own superheroes and prepared for battle! The greatest battle Strong Farm has ever seen! With a padded platform in the pool our children literally laid the smackdown!
Next week our group heads up into the mountains for a stay at Abbot Mount. This was something that we did last year and was considered the favorite event by most of our kids. We have much better accommodation organized this year and are really looking forward to the 5 day trip.
