The Board of The Good Shepherd Agricultural Mission invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced professionals for the positions of:

The Board of The Good Shepherd Agricultural Mission, an orphanage home for children, invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced Christian women for the position of Girls Hostel Incharge. The GSAM is one of India’s leading orphanages, priding itself on the family environment created within its walls. We are searching for a suitable person who can join this family, who can help to maintain a spirit of love, forgiveness and acceptance while also maintaining discipline among our kids.

Interested applicants should also meet the following requirements:

  • Be a single female
  • Be between the ages of 30-48 years old
  • Be a protestant Christian
  • Be able to speak/write in both English and Hindi
  • Experienced in childcare, teaching and/or other appropriate fields is also preferred but not essential

Days/Hours: Position requires the job holder to live in (or nearby) the hostel of around 20 young girls aged 14-18 years old. The applicant is expected to be on call 24 hours a day though real work hours vary depending on the girl’s timetable. The applicant is expected to become a part of our family, therefore work hours should not matter. On Sunday’s the applicant will have most of the day off as well as much time throughout each day of the week (while the children are in school… etc.).

Duties: The duties for this position include the general care of the girls in the hostel -ensuring they are up an on time in the morning, attending meals on time, completing chores, doing their homework, going to bed on time, keeping clean and maintaining the hostel/mission rules. It is also expected that the employee will assist with tuition and general chores around the orphanage.

Commencing: As soon as possible, August 2018 at the latest.

Starting Salary: As we are a self-supporting non-profit that is actually trying to do good in this world salary should not be the most important thing for any applicant. Currently our staff earn between 7000-9000/- per month. Salary would be paid to bank account.

Accommodation & Food: Housing and food would be provided but deducted from any salary given (approximately 700/- for accommodation per month and 700/- for food). In general we increase salaries each year, as our organizations growth allows but this is not assured.

Other Information: Candidates should have the ability to work well with children, hold strong Christian values, be able to work as part of a large team.

Leave/Holidays: Paid leave will be given for approximately 40 days per year. 15 days casual leave which can be availed at a maximum of 2 days at a time, 15 days Earned Leave which can be availed at a maximum of 10 days at a time and 10 days medical leave. Leave will only be afforded to the candidate after completion of 1 year employment.

The GSAM is one of India’s leading orphanages, priding itself on the family environment created within its walls. We are searching for a suitable person who can join this family, who can help to maintain a spirit of love, forgiveness and acceptance while also maintaining discipline among our kids.

Interested applicants should also meet the following requirements:

  • Be a single male (or married couple)
  • Be between the ages of 30-48 years old
  • Be a protestant Christian
  • Be able to speak/write in both English and Hindi
  • Experienced in childcare, teaching and/or other appropriate fields is also preferred but not essential

Duties: Management of the Samartha Saxena Memorial Learning Resource Center the library and computer lab of Maxton Strong School. The SSMLRC is a private library that we hope to make available to the public. The applicant is expected to help us to achieve this goal, assist in maintaining library systems, lending of books and assisting children in the correct handling of library books.

Commencing: As soon as possible.

Starting Salary: Starting salary is 10,000 to 15,000/- per month total. If the applicant is highly experienced we are happy to discuss this further. Salary would be paid to bank account.

Other Information: Candidates should have the ability to work well with children, hold strong ethical values, be able to work as part of a large team. Interested applicants should also meet the following requirements:

  • Hold a Library Science degree
  • Be between the ages of 25-48 years old
  • Be English speaking (and Hindi)
  • Hold at least 5 years experience working as a librarian

Days/Hours : Monday – Saturday, 8am to 6pm (2 hour lunch break). Work hours are negotiable but 8 hours must be completed each day.

Duties: The gardener will be responsible for planting, watering, weeding and maintaining the gardens of the Good Shepherd Agricultural Mission and it’s school Maxton Strong School. The gardener will also be required to do landscaping (setting and shifting of soil) and general collection of litter around the property.

Commencing: As soon as possible.

Starting Salary: 8,000 to 12,000/- per month depending on experience.

  • Have experience working as a gardener and/or groundskeeper
  • Be between the ages of 30-48 years old
  • Not be afraid of hard work
  • Hindi or English speaking
  • Not be a smoker or drinker
