Christmas Cheer!

Friday, 25 December 2009 20:21
Christmas was a massive success this year! The children, staff and a large number of visitors were treated to the best Christmas on record and we have all of you, our supporters to thank for that. Many of the kids were so excited they stayed awake till well after midnight to welcome it in!

We want to take a moment to thank everyone who donated money, presents, items or spent time helping us make this Christmas a special time for all involved. Friends and family all over the world contributed, from primary school children in Tasmania knitting scarves for our kids, to families in America and England sending presents both for our children and staff.

A few of the favourites this year were a beautiful new guitar donated by Launceston Church Grammar School and some Rollerblades -which the older boys picked up very quickly. All of our children received a present in the morning when they woke up, a gift at our 10 o'clock brunch (with over 250 people!) and then a great treat bag filled with lollies, small toys and chocolates in the evening!

Presents under the Christmas tree!
Many of the children went out for afternoon picnics either to the jungle or the local canal. The older boys decided to play a cricket match and the two captains (who were ex-mission boys now living/working elsewhere) both agreed that the loosing captain would pay 500 rupees to buy treats for both teams at the conclusion of the 25 over match. They had a fantastic time and enjoyed the snacks at the end.

We will be sure to upload a whole lot more photos in the next few days. Thanks once again to everyone who helped us and our children out. We hope all your Christmas's were just as wonderful.
