Children’s Hostel

A family-connected student hostel providing daily support, education, meals, mentoring, and opportunity for children from challenging backgrounds.

A Stable Place To Learn And Grow

The Children’s Hostel at the Good Shepherd Agricultural Mission provides a stable residential environment for students whose parents or legal guardians have placed them with us for education, daily support, and long-term opportunity.

Many students come from families facing financial hardship, limited access to quality education, or difficult home circumstances. Our role is to provide structure, meals, schooling, mentoring, supervised campus life, and encouragement while keeping family connections active and respected.

At the heart of this work is a simple goal: to help each child learn, grow, and prepare for a stronger future.

Our Hostel Model

GSAM has a long history of supporting children, but our work today is not the same as the orphanage model of earlier decades.

Today, we operate a student hostel connected to education and family support. Students are placed with us by their parents or legal guardians, who remain involved through contact, two-way visits, and ongoing relationship.

We do not facilitate adoption, and we do not present the hostel as a Child Care Institution under the Juvenile Justice Act. Our focus is education, stability, daily family support, and opportunity.

Daily Life In The Hostel

Daily life in the hostels is built around routine, responsibility, friendship, and education. Students attend school, share meals, complete homework, play sports, and take part in supervised campus activities.

Students are supported through:

  • Nutritious meals and practical daily care
  • School attendance and homework routines

  • Mentoring and staff supervision

  • Sports, play, reading, and creative activities

  • Age-appropriate responsibilities and life skills

The hostel is not simply a place to stay. It is a structured environment where students can feel supported, build confidence, and develop as whole people.

Education At The Centre

Education is one of the main reasons families and guardians place students in the hostel.

Students attend Maxton Strong School, located on the GSAM campus, where they receive English-medium education from Playgroup through Grade 10. As students grow older, we help them prepare for further study, vocational training, or higher education opportunities through programs such as Mission University.

For many students, education becomes the pathway to confidence, employment, independence, and long-term change for their families.

Support The Children’s Hostel

Your support helps provide meals, education, mentoring, daily care, and a stable campus environment for students living in the hostel.

Together, we can help children from challenging backgrounds access the support and opportunity they need to build a stronger future.
